Ubin

Pristine innocence just half an hour from Singapore...

As the boat lashes through the waters and we leave Changi Jetty behind ,every time I look ahead...the island which lies ahead across the sea always welcomes me into its folds...

Beautiful people, greenery in abundance and wild... and a feeling of going back to the childhood years.

Where the feeling of community spirit is epitome. This island survives on that. With no medical centre, post office or a school it is still a Singapore...a home like no other. Where sharing a beer or a cuppa and catching up on whats been happening be it a sunny day or rain...is the order of the day...

Chek Jawa..a walk with the flora and fauna and through the sea, watching rain clouds gather and sea weed being swept to the shores, where a lone tree stands amidst the lashing waves or the silent water trickling, where mangroves and hermit crabs learn to live with one another while the hornbill takes flight from the trees above...

Ubin...an island amidst the many around Singapore which bring the me I love closer to myself...
