clean and green or just the green????

A month ends or just begins and the post box almost chokes and coughs bills (yes thats a necessity, I know, Thank you for tellin me I owe you money!) and flyers and promo materials of someone selling a better aircon service, a better home, faster deliveries or a better way to iron that shirt you have tucked away! Hmmph!

The clutter of bills that come with unending pamphlets from the credit card companies, the banks and the "free" memberships you signed up with a smile and so many promises...no thank you I dont need a 10% discount on that much coveted lobster dish ONLY if I spend a minimum of 150 dollars! I dont want that facial and thre free cleansing products nor am I so keen to fill my fridge with all that you offer at a "price now" from the "Usual Price" ... I am not keen to buy that plot of land in outer Canada sitting here in Singapore...And am NOT interested in killing anymore trees! Someone else maybe ..I AM not and there are (trust me) several others like me who you push against the wall with the way of life YOU want to sell so that your company gets a BIT more "greener"!

Everytime I ask myself..what do companies mean by cleaner and greener?..is recycling the only way out?...if you cant go paperless atleast slow down on the recycled bits you use? Or does recycling mean marketing goes up? WHAT is it that will finally scream out loud to say ENOUGH! If you ARE good people will be there for you...

Yes competition is a norm...but healthy competition means a greener world too right? And what is stuffed into my post box is DEFINITELY not healthy...and the amount that is there I would soon need two post boxes!

A loyal customer is not one who will buy into all the jargon that is fed through clutter! When did it all get so mucky messy and suffocating that running away from civilization at times seems the best option...but then there are less and less jungles to run to...

Ubin

Pristine innocence just half an hour from Singapore...

As the boat lashes through the waters and we leave Changi Jetty behind ,every time I look ahead...the island which lies ahead across the sea always welcomes me into its folds...

Beautiful people, greenery in abundance and wild... and a feeling of going back to the childhood years.

Where the feeling of community spirit is epitome. This island survives on that. With no medical centre, post office or a school it is still a Singapore...a home like no other. Where sharing a beer or a cuppa and catching up on whats been happening be it a sunny day or rain...is the order of the day...

Chek Jawa..a walk with the flora and fauna and through the sea, watching rain clouds gather and sea weed being swept to the shores, where a lone tree stands amidst the lashing waves or the silent water trickling, where mangroves and hermit crabs learn to live with one another while the hornbill takes flight from the trees above...

Ubin...an island amidst the many around Singapore which bring the me I love closer to myself...
